I’ve spent 30 years designing, selling and fitting kitchens and bathrooms. I didn’t set out to build software. I built it because the software we had kept getting in the way of the sale.
The meeting kept going wrong
A bathroom is sold in a conversation. The customer tells you how they live, you show them what’s possible, and together you land on a room they’re excited about. That’s the job.
For years the design software turned that conversation into a waiting room. Somebody would wrestle with a CAD package while the customer watched, or the drawing went back to the office and came back days later. By then the moment had gone, and “we’ll think about it” usually meant someone else.
So I built one for our own showrooms
I started on the tools and built my first business from our spare bedroom. Today we have four showrooms in Scotland, and these days I spend more time writing code than fitting plinths. KBB Go is the result: bathroom design software that runs in a web browser, so you change the room while the customer is sitting beside you.
- Change the fittings across the room from chrome to brass in one go.
- Check that the door clears the WC before anyone orders anything.
- Move a shower tray and watch the connected parts stay aligned.
- Switch between the fitter’s dimensions and a clean view for the customer.
It wasn’t built for a national chain. It was built on real jobs, for real customers, by the people who sell and fit them.
What our designers taught me
My designers use KBB Go every day, and they’ve shaped how it works. Customers decide on what they can see, not on what you describe. The best design meeting is mostly talking, not drawing. And software should get out of the way, so the person who knows bathrooms can do the selling.
Honest about what’s next
Today, KBB Go designs bathrooms in a web browser on a suitable laptop or desktop. Live pricing and branded quotes are next on the roadmap. Kitchens are coming later. Mobile, AR, VR and AI-assisted design come after that. I’m building it in public, so you’ll see what works, what changes and what still needs work.
The Founding 100
I’m opening KBB Go to 100 independent bathroom businesses first: real jobs, honest feedback. The Founding 100 pay £99 + VAT a month (or £990 + VAT a year), locked for life while they stay subscribed. The price is on the website, because you shouldn’t need a sales call to find out what software costs.
